1. Why separating garbage is important | ごみのルールをまもることはとてもたいせつです In Japan, garbage must be separated into categories. If you don’t follow the rules, your garbage may not be collected. It may also disturb your neighbours. 日本（にほん）では、ごみをきちんとわけてださなければいけません。ルールをまもらないと、ごみは回収（かいしゅう）されません。そして、ちかくの人（ひと）に迷惑（めいわく）になります。 2. Main Categories of Garbage | ごみの しゅるい In Shin-Okubo, garbage is usually separated into: 1. Burnable ( 可燃ごみ,  kanengomi ):  Food, paper, clothes, small plastics 2. Non-burnable ( 不燃ごみ,  funengomi ):  Glass, metal, spray cans 3. Recyclables ( 資源ごみ,  shigengomi ):  PET bottles, cans, newspapers 4.
